Criteria-
1. mustn't sit on your head but fit/sit lower. I never quiet liked the fit of my Fox Flux. It felt overly 'big'(?) circumference-wise etc even though it was labelled S/M.
2. well vented and in some nice colours. sick of black, silver or white!
3. Not pricey - Porc are probably very nice but its too much.

I'm a 59cm actual so pretty open to whats out there.

Bell Super and Urge Enduro are similar in style too.

I thought bright coloured kit was for fashion bikers? 😉

I've got a Bell Super and really like it. It's not cheap but fits well but the venting isn't the best.

The IXS Trail that I tried on was a comfy fit to and felt like it would be better vented because it feels less substantial than the Bell but still with good coverage.

Just waiting for the arrival of my new IXS Trail. After a lot of looking around seemed the best compromise of venting vs protection. Have a feature too but it's hot in warm weather but very comfy, will keep it for winter duties but wanted something cooler for summer.

Errr surely the only answer is "go to a shop, try lots on, buy the best fitting one".

A circumference only gives you a starting clue about fit...

as above, go to a shop with a mirror and try lots. Pick the one that fits beast and looks how you want.

and then buy it at the shop, not sneak off and find the cheapest online.

The OH has one of the TLD A1 helmet, fairly snazzy looking and fits better than any other helmet he's tried on, good because he's got a really stupid shaped head!

I've recently found that size matters. I recently bought a Specialized Tactic II, both the medium and the large fitted my head, but the large gave the undesirable mushroom look.

It's a safety thing so looks shouldn't be at the top of selection criteria, but I was pleased to see that Specialized recommended the smallest lid that was comfortable.

Or use their price match policy

I've just bought a Troy Lee A1 from Chain Reaction - they've got big discounts on last year's colours. I picked up the Satin Blue for £70. The Gloss Yellow is currently available at the same price. It's incredibly comfy and very adjustable. Might be worth a look.

I was very tempted by the TLD helmets but after doing a lot of searching on reviews there were 2 key themes; 1. Very comfy. 2. Very hot. So basically the same as the Feature I am replacing.

Errr surely the only answer is "go to a shop, try lots on, buy the best fitting one".

In an ideal world yes, but I've never found a shop in easy reach which carries a selection of the helmets that I am interested in (when I bought the Feature I was lucky enough to be after that model and there was one in the shop to try). At least with CRC etc you have the ability to try and return to ensure a fit, though it is a bit more hassle.

Bell Super pretty good in this respect huge coverage like a motorbike helmet - more so than my trusty Giro Feature.

Plush lining and brow vents work well

Sizing is slightly on the massive side though. The L is fine for my huge 62cm head but at 59 cm I'd at least try the M

Are you looking for a Peak/Visor? if not then try Kask, they seem to come up a little bigger and fit quite low too.

I desperately wanted the IXS Trail to be a good fit, when I finally got to try one it sat too low on my forehead and the retention system interfered with my neck. Other than that, it was a very comfy lid and well made. Could well be what you're looking for?
