[#3133039]

Looking to get a new frame to migrate the bits from a 2008 boardman pro onto. Up to about £300. Preferably steel but not essential just something a bit burlier. The c456 at the moment is probably my first choice. But not too sure about compatibility issues etc.
And what frames do you think I should be looking at?
Has anyone in s-land used a boardman as a donor bike?
It'll have to be a 16 or 17" if that's makes any difference.
Thank you chaps

If you are transplanting bits you need to make sure that the fork is compatible - not sure what you've got - but a friend with a similar age Boardman had a 85-130mm R/S on it - so fine for the 456.

Not sure though, apart from mudroom that the 456 is any 'better' than your current frame?

The carbon 456 is currently at £299 (I'm not sure for how long) so that might also be an option if steel's not essential and the kit fits. Equally there are a lot of good steel frames around in your price range (or just over) so you could be spoilt for choice.

Thanks guys, the forks are reba teams so I believe 80-120. Set up currently as 100. I thought the 456 was a very much 'changeable' kind of frame i.e. can be great with 160mm forks but also something that will be happy at 120mm as well.
Sorry David I think it's going to be a bit to big for me but looks really nice though.
I'll have to keep looking I think.

Wot Mosey said, even better if you can get a 725 PA! CLICKETTY CLICK

Ragley blue pigs look good, but there are some dicky reports of oval headtubes and chipped paint straight out of the factory. Dialled on the other hand have a a modest but very solid reputation.

A BFe would also fit the bill, but I can't stand that headtube badge. This is why I have a PA.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I can confirm that the current Prince Albert is indeed Reynolds 725 flavour (in orange and green).

Andy, not sure where in Scotland you are, but our dealer up there is The Bike Chain in Edinburgh. I think they have a demo bike built up, but not sure if it's your size.

Thanks Mike, I am based in Bristol. Is there any dealers nearby in the west country? It would have to be the 15.5".
Thanks to all for the help.

Hi Andy. Sorry, I thought your reference to s-land was Scotland!

No dealers in the SW area I'm afraid.

Maybe there's someone on here with a Prince Albert that's local to you that you can tag along with for a test ride?
