I need to replace my XT 770 rings, but realise that i will be cheaper replacing the whole chainset. Best deal I can find is £125, however I could save £35 and get an SLX for £90. Any opinions on the SLX - looks like it has the same rings as XT and only a tad heavier.

(and yes, I have a new chain and cassette coming too !)

thanks

Have you thought about Superstar's chainrings? £37:99 for the set.
Can't comment on longetivity yet, as have only used one for a couple of months now, but no problems so far.

acorlett - I did wonder but like you haven't heard much on longevity. Hopefully I'll be having those ones off the classifieds though 😆

Middleburn rings seem to last well - my current XTR set have managed over 3k of off-road, including 2 Chiltern winter/mud fests.

gamo - It's done pretty well, almost 2 yrs on the hardtail, which gets ridden most wed nights throughout the year (certainly winter) and the odd wet Sunday (the FS doesn't come out in the dark !!).

Certainly better than the older ones.
