I've been fitting deore rings (lots of different models but I can't say for sure 510) for years to mine + m8's bikes, and though you may need to attack the inner tabs of the ring with a file to make them fit, i haven't had an issue with fitting any. So I'd say yes, but there was a post not long back from some-one complaining they couldn't get deore to fit.... What can I say...

Either way, you do know theres a fair chance your chain & cassette (& possible other rings) will need changing if your current middle ring is worn out? Go look @ Rose bikes (or other euro sites) if you do need to replace everything, as they're cheaper than many UK sites, when buying a number of components (£5 p&p negates a single components cheapness).

The M510 middle ring you linked to will fit without any fettling.

Older rings fit a smaller diameter shelf on the crank, so need approx 1mm removing to fit the Hollowtech-II crankarm.
This is OK with an alloy ring, but a bit tougher with a steel one!

that post I was on about

Re-reading it, or at least scanning it, as I struggle with long sentences.. he seems more than a little over concerned by the whole isssue 🙄 .
My experience is that deores fit fine, or maybe need a small bit of fettling that a file and a little patience will overcome.

All said, Rose do the new composite SLX rings cheap too, which I'm currently testing.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I ordered a deore m510 chainring before I thought about any issues. I'll give it a try once it arrives and let you know how I got on.

Cheers
