I wonder if demand for 26 soul dropped off due to the older geometry?

Cy said customers kept buying BFe 26 but not Soul which is intesting as geo was the same I believe.

Note I never saw my Blue BFe in the box as it was sent straight to the LBS. They called to say "wow it's stunning" !

I'm having sizing panic.

Right now 100% of my riding is in the local woods which luckily is on the side of a hill and has all sorts of jumps, berms etc. and I also take my really crappy BMX to the pump track.

Thinking that a new bike might inspire some trail centre visits and the odd actual bike ride, I went with the extra versatility of a large (I'm 6'1" and my current bike is a XL 456).

Part of me thinks that for what I do now a medium or even a small would do the trick and be awesome, but be pretty rubbish as an actual bike to ride places. I'm a 1 MTB kind of guy so versatility is important.

arrgghh

I am 5-10 on a 2012 Medium which is what Cy recommended. I think a large is perfect for what you want. You can always play with stem length and seat position.

My build is a right mish mash of nastiness.

...Hayes 9 brakes!!

Please throw these things off the nearest cliff.

Sorely tempted by new brakes

Everyone is on your side. Just do it.

Who is going to post the first picture of a built bike doing a massive whip on a jump? Don't fall for the cool marketing and then not ride the balls off it.

It's here!!

Had a moment of confusion, red was sold out so ordered an orange one and on the end of the box was this!

But inside the box was ......

Pictures of the orange don't do it justice but here's one anyway!

What is the little bag of bits that came with it? How does the front mech routing work? Are the two related? ๐Ÿ™‚

That's just the clips for running cables. Not sure about a front derailleur, I read up about so many frames when I was choosing I'm not sure if this was one that said not suitable for one. But that might be rubbish ๐Ÿ˜€

Looks like your build is going well, my ribs are still goosed so not sure when I'll get it built let alone ride it, although the kids are at the grandparents tomorrow, so might make a start and see how I get on.

Well fueled by cocodamol, ginger beer and coffee here's my bike fully built up!
Ignore the mountain of spacers they are staying until I work out what height I want it and if I changer out the stem (probably)

Anyhoo ribs sore so feet up time!!

The Mrs also said I need new grips and pedals so that they match the frame ๐Ÿ˜€

Crests? A 120mm stem?

They are just place holders until the correct items arrive right? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Although the crests are fine I'm probably 66/67kg fully kitted out including my backpack so should be ok for a while yet.

@davek nice ๐Ÿ™‚ a tip would be to put two black cable ties round the cotic chainstay guards as it slides around otherwise

That's as good as it gets at the moment I'm afraid!

Was holding on for a red one, but sadly they had all gone. That said, not upset about the orange at all.

I was lucky enough to get the last Medium frame, paint finish is excellent.

Will have to wait for finished build pics as donor bike is off to the Alps shortly.

I'm a Bfe rider and I love what Cotic do but that is one of the worst head tube badges in the business. I only mention it as I'd forgotten how bad it was until just now.

Lush colour though. I think this and the gray/yellow scheme is their best yet. I'm not into all the Tic-Tac colours.

Is this any different to the older 26 version that loads of people were trying to sell in the classifieds a few months ago? (I ask as I was tempted to replace my old duster)

@DT78: yup, optimised for inline post (longer ETT) and a degree slacker HA iirc. Generally updated to match 27.5" equivalent.

There must be a link to the Cotic webpage somewhere in this thread... Have a look (or google new BFe26).

Out of curiosity, does anybody happen to know the static head angle of the revised version (and / or the 27.5 model).
All details quoted on Cotic site are sagged.

Finally got to ride (and wash) mine today. It is great, exactly what I need for what I do.

The 160mm geometry as shown (sagged) is what you'd get with a 120mm fork static. Subtract 1 deg for every 20mm of fork you add, whilst adding 7mm to BB height and taking a few mm off reach.

Any more ride reports on these? My mate's looking in to getting one so any advice is appreciated. Top tube is slightly short from what i've read but he's looking for something to build up with his existing 26" stuff and this or the NS Surge Evo seem to fit the bill the best.

So finally making some progress with mine!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

So far it's a rolling chassis... Hopefully in a couple of hours time it will be a full bike. Anyway... Quick angle finder and tape measure analysis reveals the following... (Medium frame Built with 130mm Pike and 2.35" Schwalbe tyres FWIW)

Static HA 66.5deg
Static BB height 330mm (10mm drop)
Static ETT 610mm approx
Chainstay length 425mm
Wheelbase 1120mm

So it's nice and long, and nice and slack, but the BB height is quite old school!
