Just seen the new pool on bbc news, they say the diving pool has a hydraulic bottom to make it shallower or deeper depending on what height board you dive off?
Why?

Because if you can't swim they can make it more shallow?

Dunno.
My local one has a hydraulic floor that they can raise right up to the water surface. Nice simple way of emptying the pool of swimmers ๐

can you imagine raising the floor during a fat club swim? It'd be like a school of beached whales ๐

We have a new sports centre built near where I live. It has hydraulic floor as well. It can do angles as well, so one side can be shallower than the other. Its gonna be used by the Nigerian, Antiguan and Barbudan teams in the Olympics.
