I need a new cassette. I'm running Shimano 105 5800 at present. These seem a bit scarce but I've found a 7000 of the right ratio. Is there any difference in real terms between the two? Used for road riding with a full 105 groupset. Chain and front rings are also worn but they are readily available.

As long as it's got the same number of sprockets, will fit the freehub and doesn't have wildly different ratios, completely interchangable. You wouldn't even have to stick with Shimano.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

R7000 is the new Shimano code for 105. It’s just a bit newer than the 5800 but will work fine

Excellent. I'd guessed that but never trust companies not to change some trivial item that means the whole system needs replacing.
