First ride out on Saturday - before and after pics below - took the shock pump with me so lots of fettling and position tweaks while I was out but spot on by the time I got back

Sorry about the mudguards but actually given the state of the trails they did a good job - especially that ass saver on the back - even kept the seals on the dropper clean!!

it was the last of the Winstanleys offers - been watching it for two weeks and knew I’d regret it if I didn’t press “go” 😁

That’s very nice (apart from the anti-theft device on the back!*)

* My ebike has an even bigger uglier one - and a dropper that requires almost zero maintenance. My hardtail only has a front mudguard and a dropper that gets irritable if I don’t lube it…

Nice bike 🙂

My stage 6 evo took a bit of fettling on the pressures to get it feeling right.

Never seen that mudguard before. Looks like it did a decent job though.

It’s an Ass Saver (road brand originally) muguard. The do a good job. Not as good a Mud Hugger type but close and good on a dropped stay FS where Mud Huggers can be hard to fit

I finished building my new (to me) frame up yesterday, moved the parts over from my Stif Squatch frame (probably will be for sale), has a double barrel inline on and a Helm fork (not fitted yet) along with those bargain Ghost carbon wheels, hopefully it'll be agile and snappy compared to my stumpy evo that's probably built as chunky as you'd ever want it.

Into the 2nd week of a cold and also rolled my ankle playing with the dogs yesterday so don't think I'll be riding it anytime soon lol...

Absolute bargain those. And that's a great colour for an Orange, I think of that as their signature colour (kind of like Yeti and turquoise). Lovely.

I've recently bought a couple of MTB Ass Savers too. Shallow angle seatstays on my bikes mean Mudhuggers don't sit that well, so thought I'd try different. Mixed experience so far. Worked great on my mullet e-bike but with more movement/tyre contact than I expected (whereas generally don't get ANY contact with the Mudghugger rear). Not so great on my 29er trail FSer where there was so much contact it was off-putting. Quite a lot of rub/wear on the guard afterwards. I need to tweak the fit as it shouldn't be that different between two bikes!

Its great that. The right shock too, I've had a number of Oranges and other single pivots and I found the Float X a huge upgrade - they use the bigger, softer bottom out bumper like the DH shocks, not the small hard one like a Float. Means you can really let it sit into the travel a little and the odd bottom out is manageable, not a hard crash like the older bikes. More sensitive to correct air pressure than any other style of bike I find, 5 psi either side will leave it feeling awful. Take the time to setup correctly, its worth it.

Nice one - going full Orange there  👍

Only ever had a Pike on mine, which was great, but I bet it goes well with the 36.

The Win Wing looks good compared to most MTB rear guards IMO. I'll probably try one when I get my new HT built up, I liked the gravel version a lot.

That is a Mudhugger, essential this time of year in Delamere

Good choice! 😎

I've got a modified mud hugger on at the moment. Wasn't secure enough to stand up to an Antur Stiniog battering, but seems OK for more moderate terrain.

Like Delamere as it happens, also my local. PXL_20250712_111540039.MP.jpg

Go on then, here's my old Stage Evo:

Seems to be a really popular bike on here these days 🙂

Good luck with that. Been trying to sell my mate's as new Squatch frame with Hope headset and Dub bb for weeks without a sniff. It's got to the point where it's worth so little I'm just going to buy it myself and re-enter the hard tail world.

Agree 100%. Having had plenty of full suss Orange's with the basic shock but now on a Stage 6 Evo with Factory it makes a huge difference.

Nice bike btw OP, spot on!

We should have a get together.

I got my heavily discounted, older model Stage 6 from a shop called Start Fitness at the start of summer so I could take it on my bucket list holiday. My mate in the picture is on my old Four. Brilliant bikes.

Well if we're doing Stage 6 Evos as well, this replaced my Stage Evo above:

Hah, yeah I half expected as much, tbh it only cost me £210, I was just going to keep hold of it but there seemed to be a bit of buzz about them in the recent thead here. Makes sense they're not worth much being non UDH and Stiff sadly going bust, glad I picked up a spare hanger before they shut up.

that looks good - I wasn’t sure a mudhugger would work with such dropped stays 👍

Weirdly, the mud on my original pics in this thread is very much Delamere mud! Oranges and Delamere must go together 😂

I did have to modify the Mudhugger to get a really robust fit. I did note on another thread that Muckynutz do an adjustable rear mudguard which works well on bikes with low seat stays.

I have one of those as well also in fizzy orange! It's a lovely bike. I have to say though I think you got a high in specification on the shocks than I have? Do you know what model of shock you have on the rear because I'm thinking about upgrading mine

As I am up the road from Beagleboy, I reckon we call it by weight of numbers... 😉

Well I'm up for a get together over the Christmas holidays. I'd even be prepared to 'slum it' and have a Rivi trip if @chakaping could be persuaded. It's a decent destination I've not done for a while.
