Anyone else in?

http://www.naughtynorthumbrian.co.uk/

I'm looking forward to some steep and sketchy Kidland stages. Does anyone know what the moorland stuff will be like?

I don't think any of my mates entered in time so might also be looking for some company for the practice and racing 👿

We're in! I'll be on a red BFe and my OH will be on a old Commie Meta 4X. I've never ridden Kidland before- will I die?

In other news, are you doing the Eastgate DH as well?

hi - I'm doing the 3 stage 'lite' event to see whether or not its a thing that I'd want to try again. Looking forward to it but slightly apprehensive.
As far as the terrain goes, I used to ride up there often but just on the old bridleways and drovers paths over the moors. Some of the tracks started suffering from a*holes on MX bikes tearing them up so I haven't been for a few years but it sounds like fresh paths have been cut for the event and that some will be on the Otterburn range as well.

It's open and exposed on the tops and the wind can be brutal on a bad day but the views are great. The terrain is generally made up of a lot of steep sided valleys (you can see if you look on Google earth) so there is opportunity for tricky descents for sure.

I'm entered but none of my mates are, so happy to hook up with anyone that wants company / to laugh at my poor performance.

I've never ridden there before, but the organisers mentioned a similarity with Golfie style trails so I'm pretty excited and a bit apprehensive.

Disappointing thread title. Needs more kink. Possibly a stripper from Morpeth.

kayla - as rik says (and the NN site says as well), think Golfie style trails. If you haven't ridden at Caberston (aka Gofie) then I'd recommend a day in Innerleithen getting a taste.

The Kidland trails I rode were similar to Golfie in steepness for sections but slippery and with a healthy amount of fresh-cut that was tricky in the damp.

Didn't plan on doing the Eastgate DH. Trying to get a bit of balance this year!

rik - keep an eye out for me on a blue Pivot in a red van. arrange something closer to the time?

dmk - are you offering? 😆

I'm signed up, mates didn't enter in time either. Happy to tag along with anyone, first enduro event for me so don't expect any major speed though 🙂

I'll chip in a tenner. You'll be at the top of the fist climb in a cheerleader's outfit.

See you there. For £10 there's a happy finish too.

The wooded stuff is steep and very tight in places. Weather before the event can affect the stuff in the trees easily (just because it can thats why 🙂 )
Moorland stuff mostly grazing land, but nothing is marked on the ground currently. But it does have the chance of being fast as..... a fast thing in a downward direction
I hope this helps reassure you that will be a great event

I am nothing to do with the organisers by the way, I just know the area 😀

there's a new video of some of the trails up on the NN website - looks pretty good. I recognise some of the open sections shown but the wooded bits could be anywhere.

Info pack arrived yesterday and mentions the bar closes at 1i.30 on Sunday. That seems early so begs the question in case anyone here knows, i assume camping is available Sunday night after the race?

Not long now 😀

Has anyone seen what the deal is going to be with start times? I'm not sure if I missed anything from the info pack, or if it's going to be be a matter of choosing your own start time when you sign on.

It'll be pretty poor I'd say. Heavy rain friday morning, and the weather warnings are starting to come out for sunday.

Practice might be ok!

I'm assuming from the fact your posting weather forecasts you live either in London or the bit of the lakes popular with posh Londoners? Everywhere else in the UK they're the meteorological equivalent of pin the tail on the donkey.

I also guess you've not noticed the weather we've had and given my impression much of this is likely to be moorland I'm expecting waterlogged bog after a few weeks with any rain to speak of.

2.5/2.3 Shortys on in anticipation.

It's more the lack of showers combined with filthy wet trails and possible cold-belting-it-down rain I'm not so keen on. Ah well, it'll be a good craic anyhow, and if it's not, at least there's a bar

I take it your other half is on bar duty as a result of the borked shoulder? Seems a bit mean to offer me a pint on their behalf.

No, he's still going to give the thing a good go on Saturday and see how he fares for Sunday. No pressure at all from me to do the whole thing, I'm just there to have a look around some new trails! No danger of any actual racing happening here.

Dangerourbrain..
I live 23 miles south west of it ..and you are right ..but I thought I would offer a little bit of hope 😀
It's a lovely day here today !
It's still relatively dry going in the Cheviots ..a lot of the trails are on large grassy rounded hills but depending on the route there is rocky too ..
