I have a 140 trail bike which is good for most things, but was thinking about a29er for long distance / blue / bridal riding, then I have been drawn to cx bikes. I have never owned a "racer" but love the idea.

Would this be a good n+1 bike?

I would like comfy, carbon forks and discs, sub £1500 (very sub ideally), could you recommend and post pics of yours.

Cheers

Can't go wrong with Boardman's, they have carbon forks, disks, and come in at well below 1500 quid.

Bridal riding? Not sure the forum is the best place to talk about your bedroom antics, but nevermind.

Took the plunge when my road frame cracked and bought a CAAD-X Tiagra on the Cyclescheme (just under a grand).
Can definitely recommend the Cyclocross bike as an N+1 !

Crap weather over Christmas and I still went out on a few rides, on road/off road - it actually makes road riding fun as you can take short cuts on gravel tracks etc. Much more comfortable than a road bike (whether all CX bikes are as comfortable as the Cannondale, I can't say) and absolutely flies off road.

I have also ordered a cheap road frame from Merlin, just to build up with all the road spares I now have, but not sure how much (if any) use the road bike will get!

Looks like this, haven't taken photos (embarrassed about the mudguards I've fitted 😉 ).

[edit]In hindsight (and if I wasn't limited to a grand) I would go for disc brakes, cantis are BAD!

If you can still find one in stock anywhere I can highly recommend the Felt F65X. I've been racing one this cross season & it's been a great bike - really enjoyed racing it. They were only £1350 new with Avid discs & a decent SRAM groupset. I did make a few switches to make it a bit more race-able (Hope V-Twin, jazzy wheels, changed the post & saddle), but for general use the out of the box bike is ace for the cash. Don't know if it'd be of any interest, but I'll probably be looking at moving this one on in a couple of weeks after the season's finished - planing on a carbon one for next season.
