Yesterday, my road ride was beset by groups of pheasants in the road, just small groups, doing nothing of any apparent consequence, and when I approached on the bike they initially froze and then suddenly scattered in all directions - usually the same direction I was trying to take - with much shrieking and carrying on
Today, on my commute, most of the undergraduates of Nottingham University were displaying [i]exactly[/i] the same behaviour on the shared footpath/cyclepath.
Now, I've never seen pheasants and students in the same place at the same time, so I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't some sinister explanation for this "coincidence"

your lucky, they don't fly away when you walk at them down the corridors... and I think I would get shouted at if I took my bike inside 🙄

By day, they are stupid dozy birds with no apparent sense.
