Top of the morning,
I wanted to inject some food for thought- things were looking a bit too much like a crows parliament- Although I can see what is alleged could be construed as dodgy business practice, from the evidence I've read, I don't see quite the levels of deceipt and manipulation that are being portrayed as black and white.
Whatsmore, I have bought a few items which may require long term warranty, so I'd prefer the business didn't fold due to schoolyard underdog syndrome.

No, that is not the reason for the reaction. For my part, others may - of course - be different, is that someone has tainted something that was mostly free from outright deception and malpractice. I have a strong aversion to the political, religious, philosophical views of many on here, hell, I find the way some people on here make their living to be objectionable (yep, I am one opinionated mother****er) and so I mostly avoid the other forum. On this forum yes, there's differences of opinion, yes, Brant does some not-so-stealthy marketing (as he has since the start of this place) and promotes the ethos behind his latest frame and other industry people pop up to add their ha'pennyworth but... differences are mostly respected. And, for the most part, the outside world is set aside as much as possible and all those political etc differences are temporarily forgetten whilst bikes are talked, routes are swapped and slack angles examined.
Until now no one has embarked on a [i]campaign[/i] of attempting to undermine other people's business in this almost happy little world. But now, it would seem, the evidence is fairly damning that TB/F has shat in the pool. For that all the disapprobation is deserved.

I haven't seen one product of his that has any input from his company in concept of design ... all he has done is become part of a chain with less links.

Well having read this thread from start to finish I think i'll take my custom elsewhere too. I was planning on buying 50 pairs of brake pads from them (£300 worth) for a season in the alps next year the last thing we want is a faulty product with obviously dire customer support to leave us with an unsupported batch, possibly ruining the whole trip as money once over there will be tight. It'll cost us more inevitably but I'd rather the piece of mind that nothing can go wrong and we can concentrate on riding instead.

With that in mind, I think this stinks- everything has been blown out of proportion and is now just some kind of farcical witch hunt- it would seem Fruit had a number of enemies on here, maybe in part because the components he sells aren't quite in vogue like Chris King or the latest prada hubs daaaarling- if (and it is still an if) tangobravo does prove to be one and the same, is it not understandable that he might want a more anonymous persona to express his opinions without preconceptions of a clicky set of bitchy schoolgirls.
It is fairly conclusive Fruit and tangobravo are the same person - they have the same mobile phone number
The reason he has so many enemies is that these people have suffered from multiple failures of SSC components, and from his poor customer service, his mocking of his customers on the forum.
His stealth promotion of SSC products as well as his denigrating of other manufacturers and importers is IMO quite outrageous. Live by the sword and die by it.
I'm very pleased to hear that Fruit has lost a £300 sale out of all of this, along with a few others. At least now I know he's lost more money from his stupidity and poor customer service than I have.

For what it's worth I think this is karma biting him on the arse, and it's making me really very happy.
Superstar sintered brake pads are ace, mine are lasting an age.
I saw Fruit at SITS, seemed a young lad and I'm sure he will mature with age. Who wasn't a bit feisty when they were younger.
Hats off to him for doing something that even now I would probably shy away from.
I can remember about 4 yrs ago going through a set of Goodridge pads per ride, seemed to be a dodgy batch. never saw anyone slagging them off.
As for the holy than thou posters, give it a rest. It may surprise you but most people who ride a bike don't even know Singletrack exists. So I'm sure his business won't suffer.

Say theres a restaurant owner writing up reviews on his restaurant- what would you think? Hes either just starting up his business or hes struggling to attract repeat customers?
Anyway, I honestly dont care if its any of the above TBH. I just find it bemusing.

BTW- tonight I fitted my last set of superstar pads that I found in the bottom of the toolbox.
If you go through pads soo quickly- 4yrs ago or today, you are either using high performance pads or are braking far far too much. Ive always ridden everywhere trailing my rear brake and Ive not gone through countless OEM or Goodridge pads.
Sooooo, someone using multiple user names (the OP) has outed someone else (Neil) for using multiple user names.
Then, a whole bunch of people who have previously engineered a vitriolic cluster****-fuelled hate campaign against Neil here and on Mlehworld have expressed their opinions in a forthright manner.
To enable those of us who are neutral on this matter to take a considered view, would those people who have had a go at Neil on this thread, and all the other previous "I hate Neil and his girlfriend ([b]big[/b] men, all of you) threads" care to tell us all their multiple user names, both here and on Mlehworld?
Just so I'm 100% positive which of the people I communicate with on this forum are hateful, spineless, childish cowards and which people aren't.

That would be Neil then. Selling defective products then slagging off his customers on this very forum when they try to get their money back. There is a long history here but some of his behaviour has been appalling ( as might well have been some of the behaviour of people slagging him off)
Me, rolfharris and Jojo are the only mlehworlders ( I think) who have contributed to this thread. Jojo and rolf have good reason to be annoyed by him as have I.
No orchestrated campaign despite his paranoid delusions. Just people who are very cross at being ripped off and publicly slagged off by him.

I quite enjoy your mostly balanced and informative posts on here, but you've stood by when some people have indulged in hateful personal insults more suited to the playground than a forum supposedly frequented by adults. This makes you just as guilty as they are, in my opinion.

Both Mleh and Singletrack have suffered crashes which have deleted much of the old user content, but I'm sure TJ, Rolf & Jo would be able to remind you of their edifying content.
I have no opinion of Neil's products, never having used any - however, on the one occasion I have met him (and his g/f), they both seemed ok to me.

I'm rather taken aback that the members of Mlehworld should be singled out as somehow being the ring-leaders in this as I only see three (other) members having contributed to this thread.
For myself, I have a SSC-badged seatpost which has behaved just fine and I've even recommended it to others. I'd been thinking recently that Neil/Fruit seemed to have managed to control his emotions by not posting here on STW. However, this latest behaviour really is rather distasteful. Rather than slagging him off, I'd recommend he seek some counselling or psychiatric help.

Zone, most stuff comes from taiwan, all superstar is doing is importing them, branding them and selling them on. The reason they are cheap is because of low overheads. Most of the suff he sells is available through other people with different branding. Indeed that's why some of the stuff has a very strong resemblence to more expensive products.
LBS are invariably poor when it comes to ordering parts. They don't hold stock so you can't see it and have to order it anyway.
They are very good for some things though. I've bought most of my bikes in shops as you get a chance to ride them first and get after sales service.
Pads ands hubs have worked perfectly well for me. The 850i is to follow!

If I was one of those targetted I would speaking to a Solicitor and sending out a warning letter.
If a customer has a problem with my business I'll find out the facts and apologise accordingly. If a competitor attacked my business though I wouldnt hesitate.
