Long story but keeping it short from this ...

to this in just under four months.

Only a short off road ride for Mike but a major marker in his recovery(really good father/son moment too).

Mike suffered liver problems from about age 14(now 21) and got seriously ill about a year and a half ago .He had to pack in Uni and spent much of last year in hopspital/unable to do much. Luckily after just one false start he got a transplant.

Nice one.

It is always good to get out cycling with the family, but that one must of been really special.

great to see him riding, but did it ever cross your mind that it's a bit odd to photograph someone in hospital? Personally it's not something I'd ever do...... it's not exactly a time you want to remember

I'm currently laid up with a broken leg (femur) when I get back to work I've got photo's of me laying on the ground waiting for an ambulance & when I go to fracture clinic photo's of the x-rays await. Whilst I hate my current situation I think it's important to remember how much pain I was in & how much my situation has improved since then, & how much I'm improving day by day & week on week.

Helps me keep my motivation up to keep on the road to recovery.

A great result for you all, especially Michael.

I love the vid - big chuckles at Michael's deadpan, comic delivery.

All the best.

I've got two boys, Six and three and both love their bikes (hotrock and hotwalk). The eldest is now out with me at least once a week, he rode Llandegla blue last summer and has never looked back.

There is nothing better as a dad than your kids riding out with you, to the original poster i wish many more quality rides with your lad, this thread has made me smile in a good way.

That's fantastic. All the best for the future too.
I remember Tashas first ride back after months off with an injury, it was a basic pootle, but being back out on the bike with her was fantastic, so I can only imagine how you both feel.

thanks for the reply Knottie. Fair enough if he wanted it documented. I just remember wondering if I should photograph someone who was close to me and very ill, as I knew they'd be extremely interested afterward. I'm now very glad I didn't, as things didn't work out as well as your son.

I'm pleased for you
