Having recently changed the 29er to rigid I'm thinking I need a bit more cushioning that the current 2.1 IRC Mythos's provide, especially now the nights have drawn in and I can't always spot the smoothest lines.
Looking an all round tyres, the trails will generally be hard packed but with a thin layer of mud to get through in the winter. The Specialized 29er tyres look good value but I can't find much info on them.
I use 2.35 rampage's on my rigid 29ers for all but super dry conditions. Give that extra bit of cushioning and plenty of grip.
big volume tyre that is top banana= 2.35 nobby nic runs tubeless down to 15psi with no issues at all an sticks like poo to a blanket. Yes it's expensive when compared to some tyre but you do get what you pay for.
On a budget? get a bonty 29.4 on the front
specialised 29er rubber is a bit poo in my experience especially in mud
Never had a problem with Bonty - except when I did a ghetto tubeless on a 'not recommended' tyre. Always good deals on Bonty, inc their tubeless ready.
The Bonty 29-4 looks a bit heavy duty for the riding I'll be doing. Has anyone tried the 29-3?
I've found the Bonty 29-3 pretty capable most of the time. They are a reasonable width and good air volume, espically compared to Bonty mud tyres, to the point where ther is very little clearenc between my frount mech and tyre on my Swift.
I currently have a 29-3 on mine and it's been faultless and a lot grippier than it looks like it should be
