Hi,
Few of us off down to the lakes from Scotland next weekend. I've had a look online but info overload!
Basically where should we ride for natural techy stuff, happy to push and carry and do pretty big days out.
We have 2 days riding - sat/sun and are happy to stay anywhere.
Sorry if this has been asked before but pretty new to the forum and plain lazy as far as searching it!
Cheers
Park at ings garage, over Garburn into kentmere, up the valley and onto nan bield and continue up onto harter fell, descend down gatesgarth to longsleddale and then over the green quarter and back down into kentmere. Finally pick up the bridleway next to the church and head towards staveley.
Pint at the hawkshead brewery, gentle spin back to the car...
It will def hit your requirements!
Or stay at Buttermere or Seatoller and do the 4 passes (can't remember their names, think two of them are Scarth Gap, Black Sail) - that's a big day out with three of England's best descents plus an ok descent. Lots of carrying.
Steer clear of Keswick and central lakes - will be rammed with walkers, get out west and south - base yourselves in ennerdale/wasdale, loads of big days out round there notably black sail pass and Mitrdale forest (the DH that goes NW to SE through mitredale forest is one of the best around) or head a bit further south to seathwaite/dunnerdale - good loops from broughton mills over to Duddon valley back up to Park Head road down to the newfield road upto walna scar, take a right at the the big sweeping left hander 2/3's of the way up, over to jackson ground. Will still be busy so watch the speed on the DH's
Ta folks.
High Street. . Take plenty of water.
A post on here a few years back, High street popped up too many times for comfort as being a ride folk had run out of water on, and I thought it was just me.
