Does anybody know if there's any good riding or bike hire places on crete?
Anybody who's been there and has local knowledge of any good places would be very welcome to hear. Probably just me and my bro hiring a couple just to get around and go for the odd blast somehwere nice every now and then in between sunbathing, rather than riding all the time.
Had a look on google but the few links it seems to throw up are all-involved full package tours and the like, so just wondered if anybody's been there and hired an mtb.

Lots and lots of dirt trails (farm tracks), distinct lack of any maps.
*beware cables, hoses via orange etc trees at head height.
I did motorbike hire (with a guide). Good fun but unvaried (ie all dry dusty track but did manage to swim in blazing bsky blue sea and play in snow on same day)
I didn't end up using them (was on honeymoon :-)) but was in contact with [url= http://www.olympicbike.com/en/our-program/mountain-bike-rental.html ]Olympic Bike[/url] who are based in Rethymnon.
They recommended a multi-day hire but I think that's because we weren't particularly close. One day hires should be possible.
