Need a replacement for my 12 year old (yes, 12!) Shimano M086 shoes that are still going strong, but are giving me really bad hot spots above the cleats when riding on zwift for anything over 40 mins.
I use them for summer gravel riding too so need to be a 2 bolt SPD cleat, not a road style shoe. Not much walking requirement so something a bit stiffer would probably be best.
I do have a 2nd pair of Northwave Raptor GTX shoes but these would be complete overkill for the pain cave, and far too warm.
So, any deals about on lightweight, cool, stiff MTB SPD shoes? £80 and under preferably! Ta 🙂
Still got my M089's and MW7's, although the M089's are getting worn grips now. Similar newer shimano ?
TBH I'm not sure if the current ones have got soft over time or if I need something a bit stiffer. I used to use them for all my MTB riding before switching the flats a couple of years back so may even look at some road 2 bolt shoes

Not tried them myself, but on offer.
Yet to try them on a ride, but recently bought a pair of DHB Dorica MB shoes to replace my old commuter pair, having been pleased with my Dorica Carbon road pair for a few years.
I've put a few thousand Zwift miles and multiple 2hr+ session in on these Planet x ones using MTB SPDs and they've been brilliant

I paid the full £99.99 for them and consider them a great buy at that price.
At £59.99 they're almost giving them away 🙂
Hmm, those PX are damn cheap for a carbon soled shoe - is the stiffness listed anywhere?
My Northwave Raptors are stiffness 8, and they're noticeably stiffer than my old shimano shoes.
Possibly also looking at these https://www.merlincycles.com/northwave-razer-mtb-shoes-2021-162984.html as I know a size 45 fits me well in NW, and they're stiffness rating 10
Shame you're not a 46 as these definitely tick the stiff and lightweight box.
Sigmasports got some good prices, plus extra 10% off with code SHOEHELM10
Went for the northwave Razors, as tempting as the planet X shoes were, I'm not sure how long they'd last.
My current NW boots are 4 years old and just about worn in I'd say, so I'll probably get another 10 years out the new NW XC slippers.
They're light, plenty of mesh, fit perfectly and are noticeably stiffer than either of my current pairs so all good! The next 2hr+ zwift session should be a lot less painful!!
Just go on ebay and search second hand. Plenty of brand new shoes from people who fell sideways at the first attempt and never went back.
The PX full carbon road shoe are a rebadged shoe from RWR, I bought some from Merlin years and years ago. They were doing 150 miles a week a couple of years ago, and still fine. For the money they are amazing. If the MTB version are as good you can’t go wrong.
££60 is also the lowest they’ve been.
Hmm, those PX fully loaded are very tempting at that price.
On first click my initial reaction was 'ooh they look cheap & nasty!' but from other angles they actually look ok - not that looks matter when they're caked in shite.
How's the sizing in real life?
Sizing on PX Das Boots was a bit small, I ordered 43 based on guide, had to send them back for 44.
Hmm, those PX fully loaded are very tempting at that price.
Sizing was bang on, I take 45 in Shimano and 45 was perfect in the PX fully loaded. They seem like a well made shoe, Zero flex in the sole. I've only used them on the Turbo and the odd road spin so can't comment on how they'd stand up to mtb use. Would definitely be an xc\trail shoe rather than anything else as there isn't any additional toe box protection built in to them.
