Can anyone recommend some mtb slicks for me please. Got a couple of challenges coming up soon that involve loads of road miles so a pair of mtb slicks are required
Cheers

Specialized Nimbus is what I use at the moment. Theyre fairly cheap, smooth running, pretty fast, and good puncture resistance.

I use Panaracer Paselas on my commuter but they're probably a bit heavy for racing.

Continental City Gripper 1.75 they are a bit porky but they are tough as old boots and grip surprisingly well on dry trails. Though any mud and your going to be going sideways faster than your going forwards.

KarlE, I've got some Michelin Country Rock 1.75s you can have for nowt if you're passing through the Calderdale area. No idea if they are any good, came on a bike I bought and never got used, but yours if you want them.

Geax street runner 1.25s are great - had a set on my commuter for 18 months now, and they've still got plenty of tread and grip left.

for touring i used continental travel contacts, same as daffy,
folding version with kevlar very strong tyres, didnt get a puncture with 1000's of mile on them, pulled out bits of glass and metal, nothing went through 'em,

they were 1.75's,
but for proper slick? you might be looking for thinner

1.25 tyre is fine on a 517, and just about ok on a 521 so will be fine on a 117.

2nd Horatio - if you want to go fast on tarmac then a darkside 1" tyre sized for MTB works best.

Most MTB slicks are good for commuting but too heavy for the sort of thing it sounds like you'll be doing.

I always used a Specialised Turbo S - 100psi in a 25mm tyre weighing <200grammes. Perfick. Needs specific tubes though.

Conti sport contacts 1.3, at 90psi for me. Seems to be utterly puncture proof and came with a free tube and a puncture guarantee with free replacement if it punctured. I'm happy. From Merlin cycles IIRC. Certainly recommend them over my city slickers.

red - those arent slicks? The difference between any tread and slicks is huge.

Panaracer tserv 1.25 but I have managed to have snake bites just riding on the road! It was at 70psi in case you were wondering about it not being pumped up. Would like to try the 1.5 right enough.

Nah. I know they are not slick slicks. But they are really hard and run slick like when pumped right up. Good all rounder for road and reasonable trail use.

I have toured and commuted on spesh turbo 1 inchers, and panaracer ribmo 1.25s both v good, both will take 100+ psi too. Panaracers seem better for picture resistance it seems (1000+km tours) now on schwalbe marathon racers 1.5in comfy but nowhere near as fast.

I've been on 2.3 Schwalbe Super Motos for 3 years and they are awesome. So fast and comfy, and great fun on dry trails.
Can't find em anywhere now though - does anyone know if they've been discontinued?

+1 for Continental Sport Contacts - Very fast in my experience and look good too. 1.3" at 90psi and you'll roll very quickly. Can always go to 1.5" if you don't want to go the whole hog.
