How many people who have Maxxis tyres have had this problem? And what tyres were they? Does it just happen when you use stans?

Have you looked inside? Am guessing from the pic that the rubber has de-laminated from the carcass? Would have thought the sealant would have prevented air from bleeding through though.
Why is the tyre so shiny? Looks like it has been heated or something?

Not my tyre/picture/bike. Just been thinking about getting these tyres, but heard from one or two people that they have bad reactions to sealant. So I was wondering how many other people have had this problem.

Used HR's,Advantages,Ignitors and Larsens with both Joes and Stans sealant
with no probs. The tyre in the pic is weirdly shiny!

I use Maxxis Highroller Exception XCs and JRA sealant. Never seen anything like that.

There's a huge thread about this on the Stan's forum. The suggestion is that it was a very limited number of tyres with a manufacturing issue and they delaminate from the carcass. Of course, if you use tubes, you'd never notice but it shows when run tubeless. It is possible that the amonia in the solution could effect rubber but there really isn't that concentration in there!

Thats my tyre, i posted the picture in a thread last week.

Its only looks shiny because it is wet having been washed prior to sending back to wiggle for a refund. There was no obvious abnormality looking inside the tyre. I assume there are layers which separated for some reason.

I've had two tyres do this that were bought from separate shops a few months apart. Hopefully its coincidence and they were from the same batch which may have had a manufacturing issue that is now resolved. If it happens again i'll try a non-latex based sealant.

Cheers

Had it happen to one on of the two Maxxis aDvantages I had (purchased at the same time). To be fair it happenend after a large puncture that the stan's failed to repair. I was using ghetto with stans.
