The specialized concept store by covent garden has some swish bikes to look at.

Although every time i've been in there, the staff have replied "oh, i'm a roadie- I don't know anything about that" when I mention a mountainbike, and then stood there like a lemon

go to the cask and sample one of the many world beers they have.

then walk down to the Regency Cafe for the best chips in london

On your bike near Southwark cathedral stocks Whyte and Canon dale. It's a short tube ride to London and Bridge or Borough and 5 minutes walk from either station. .

Or take the tube to Liverpool street and go to the big Evans in Spitalfields or either of the nearby Cycle surgery shops.

Erm, cough, erm..

The MTB shoppee in Strype St at Spitalfileds is the only MTB shop worth visiting.

take the tube to Aldgate East and walk up to Spitalfileds, turn left at the horrible white multi story carpark, down the single lane road, follow the road left until you get to Cotswold Outdoor, turn right, walk until you see Swift Cycles and Cyclesurgery are on your right.
Or take the tube to Liverpool St and head into Spitalfileds that way.

The Evans at Waterloo is meant to be a bit more MTB orientated, but not much from when I've been in there
