Anyone done something similar? What sort of training should I be looking at doing? And is it 'fun' or more competitive? Thanks!
I did one run by Endurance Life in Dorset and it was the worst event I've ever entered, horrendously organised! Since done a couple by All About Triathlons, which were brilliant. The team behind the All About Tris are doing the Grizedale one this year, sure it'll be good.
My experience of triathlons in general is that there's a fair number of people just having a go, more so than MTB racing.
As for training, I'd make sure you can swim, cycle and run... If you've not been open water swimming make sure you go, it's quite different to pool swimming.
The swimming bit I think I should be okay with - I normally go 2-3 times a week. Its the running that may be the problem. If its ok to just turn up and have a go though it sounds like it might be fun
Running is what lets me down, start short and build up slowly. It's only 9k anyway.
I did an AAT race last year and I agree they were really well run. I wanted to do it again this year but it's the same weekend as Challenge Henley Tri
