Not heard of this before

I’m biased against new MTB games as IMO ‘Downhill Domination’ (PS2) set the bar (still keep a PS2 solely for it!) Would have loved to see an HD release of DD for PS4 etc, but will follow ‘Descenders’ with interest, can only be a good thing that someone is still making a stab at MTB-themed gaming. To be critical, it already looks ‘retro’ and ‘alt-physics’, like a PC game from the Noughties??

Yeah, it's very much in the over-the-top ridiculous vein of games like SSX, it's not meant to feel like mountain biking - more chaining combos of ridiculous unrealistic moves (it makes my guts scrunch every time I see the rider land backwards with no fakie animation).

In a very different style, one of the nicest looking mountain bike games I've seen is Lonely Mountains.

The game I've played that feels most like riding a bike is, weirdly, Super Hexagon. Something to do with commitment, control, and the way it makes you use central and peripheral vision simultaneously.

Lonely mountains looks ace. Can you just get it through the PS4 store?

(I'm at work right now so can't answer my own question to I get home!!)

Edit - yes you can, answered my own question. Now back to work.

Yeah, it’s very much in the over-the-top ridiculous vein of games like SSX

Yeah that’s one of the many reasons I love Downhill Domination as it’s nothing (and not trying to be) like riding a bike in real life (I have a bike for that) , but this looks somewhat tame in comparison? 1000ft drop-offs? Chain-whip weapon power-ups? Water-bottle missiles? Raaadicoool voice-overs, deeeeewd? Sasquatch?

Damn, I need to dig out my PS2 when the rains next come...

Lonely mountains looks ace.

Agreed, that passed me by too. Looks charming. Off to investigate...
