Anyone done any MTB in or around the Isar valley in the Alps? Me & the Missus are going over in September to a small town Mittenwald for a couple of weeks & the bikes are coming along as it looks like great XC terrain. We have done the down hill trails for the last 2 years (les Gets, Sierra Cycling) so wanted something a bit more physical and less technical
I have looked on the net and there are sites offering tours but I am always a bit apprehensive about these as you can get stuck with a group who think 10-20K is a full day tour, and as my wife keeps telling me am a tight git ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
I would greatly appreciate any info from someone who has cycled in this region as to what is availible and are the trails as good as they look?

Cheers.

Done a day on a hire bike. Nice trails, well marked and easy to follow. Particularly enjoyed crossing the border on a bike on a forest trail.

I've not biked around there only skied a little. I had been looking into biking in the area too so I'm also interested in this topic. I thought the mapping on this site here was pretty useful for planning routes. The open cycle map stuff is pretty good for the region and seems to distinguish singletrack pretty well.
