thursday night for us - SO has been talked into an all girl team so support crew has now been diminished.
Still looking forward to it, not sure why as the last time I did it it was one of the most miserable experiences of my life.
we are gluttons for punishment eh?

still, skinny tyres bought, bike is working well, I have proper lights this time and proper clothing. how bad can it be???

Does anyone know if the camp site floods at all? Wondering where to pitch the baby village of tents we have.

@Dimmadan: No. It would seem all the moisture that collects in the deer parks ends up on the course, so your tents will be fine. As you will discover, the campsite is all gently sloping down to the lake, so i'll be obvious where will be a safe place to camp.

P.s. Has anyone else got a space on the OS team? just wondering who my teammates are?

I am doing it solo but have had to scrap any kind of training plan due to

1. Work - I work in sales. We are in a recession. Twice the effort, half the reward...

2. Using work as an excuse when I get home.

Going to go and have some fun. Aim is to do 6 or 7 laps over the 2 days and work out a strategy for SITS

In years past, weather forecasts have magically changed to rainy ones by about Wednesday or Thursday and we have had traditional weather. But it does look a bit iffy this time I'll agree.

agree about the weather - getting nervous when forecast looks this good, it's just trying to tempt me not to bring some crucial mud bath equipment.

thursday night for me, should be good!

Better bring that mudbath equipment jimbo, just in case it stays dry. How's it work then?

Been distracted by surfing too much last few months to train on the bike as I should have.
At least now its looking like paddling/swimming skills'll come in handy on the course.

Can anyone tell me if there was running water last year please?

Doing my food shopping tonight and was going to get bottled water, but will need some for cooking. Cheers

There were two big water trucks with taps on the back (bowsers?).

Forecast is dry and it's sunny just down the road in Worcester at the moment ๐Ÿ™‚

Oi Bazza, that space ain't on our team I hope? Everything's sorted at this end for me and my mate to rock up sometime on Saturday morning. Or afternoon. Probably. Anyway, we're coming so just make sure we've enough space for the van and a tent.

As for the weather - the more rain the better. Brings all you skinny/soft/effeminate/titty-lipper buggers down to my level. Walking.

I guess there are a fair few people like me who've just tired of being engulfed in a tidal wave of gloop every year. I've done all the Eastnor Mayhems and only one has been really dry and summery. It's also the same weekend as Glastonbury and Wimbledon is on, the Unholy Trinity of summer sogginess.

Doing SITS though, just bought properly narrow tyres in expectation of more mud :-/

The Sits mud last year was worse than any mayhem i have ever done .......... i remember the dry mayhem as i did it solo but every year since then has been mudfest !!!

1.8 fire xc mud were amazing at sits last year

In my case I expected some local riders to come good after some rides last year together as they all expressed interest in doing some events summer 2009 and in the meantime it's me that does all the chivvying and emails and prompting etc, so I never told them I'd got a team entered just in case I lost faith in them.
One of the guys messed me about for about 5 weeks with a bike I was selling and then never bought it so he was left out of the plan for the summer events, then they all sort of lost the plot over the winter / new year, so I thought I'd see if they were actually worth maintaining contact with and the answer, sadly, is a resounding No!
Thus I offer up the spaces.
Tim

Be prepared for the mudfest, the Three Counties Show is on this weekend - that's another rain magnet for Malvern.

"Be prepared for the mudfest, the Three Counties Show is on this weekend - that's another rain magnet for Malvern."

Hence the warnings about huge traffic jams on the way to MM ๐Ÿ™ Best get there early then....

When are the queues likely to be at there worst ?
On previous years, when have the majority of people turned up?

I have always left London at about 7am on the Saturday, and made it with about half an hour of registration left.

This year I have managed to wangle leaving at 4pm on Friday, so should turn up between 7 and 8.

I'm getting there at about 11AM Friday just to be sure.... and to have some beers and a bbq after a sighting lap or 2.

Re traffic if you are running late then avoid the A38 junction 1 M50 going through Upton where most of the 3 Counties traffic will be going as it can cause huge tailbacks. Try junction 2 instead signposted to gloucester and head for Ledbury instead - that should get your there much faster.
Afraid it started raining here about an hour ago which is similar to last year - still its only light so could blow over tonight. Last weekend was a scorcher and Eastnor was dry and hardpacked, plus there have been lots of efforts to sort out the drainage and build hardy trails so dont go crying into your beers tonight - think positive thoughts no negative vibes dude ๐Ÿ˜‰

Read it is similar but reversed, but there must be a few bits from last year that can't be done the other way (muddy off camber bit with the steep drop?)
