Done a bit of searching but thought I'd start a new thread rather than drag up old stuff and maybe find some new ideas. Selling the Kaffenbach as I want much more tyre clearance. Want a frame and forks that is disc ready, 29er wide and short in the top tube to suit drops for a short arsed knackered wristed old time. Rode a Fargo and the best so far. Heavy? A Vaya looks nice but size size is not huge. Gryphons appear to come in longish top tubes ditto Road Rats. 53cm or less please. Ideas or got anything to sell. Happy to bodge. Equally how big is a 2.1 say 29er tyre acroos when on a rim? Maybe I can modify something else.
what about a surly karate monkey? not designed as a cross bike but could fit the bill in the right size
A Fargo would have been my suggestion.
Or how about an old mountain bike frame?

I've just finished putting together a monster cross bike using a Haro Mary frame. The short tootle round the yard would suggest it's a winner ... sorry can't do picky linky thing.
