[#10777719]

Im currently spending more time on road or hard packed trails than off-road at the moment and I think Im wasting my wtb trail boss and vigilante tyre (2.25/2.3) combo for my 27.5" Vitus Nucleus VRS (plus its probably not helping my overall speed).
Any suggestions for a better matched tyre for more road use on 29mm rims. I was looking at the schwalbe g-one and super moto-x (though 1125g sounds ridiculously heavy), but would welcome any alternatives. Thunder burts?
Thanks

Depends how much or little you want these tyres to do offroad, I've had 28mm Grand Sport Races (~300g each iirc) on my Wazoo's 29er wheels all summer. In a month or two, I'll probably go back to my set of 38mm Marathon Cross, which are good all-rounders, if not a bit heavy at ~560g each.

cheers for the replies, I think for 29mm rims Ill need at least a 2.1" width tyre, so some of those options are out. Shame big apple isnt in a 27.5".

Anything in the conti ranges? I use travel contacts I think on my commuter - a 25% off road 75% road tyre. Usable on gravel, fastish on road. Or the speed king perhaps?

You can get a G-One in 2.25 27.5 (they actually do them in plus sizes too)

Cheers for the advice guys. Speed kings look interesting.
Them and the g ones are mighty expensive though. Hopefully I'm not buying some wafer thin thorn magnet.
Intriguing that I might be able to go smaller than recommend, I'll look into that.

Got a set for £40 on ebay, not sure if I'd pay £90 for any tyres, but they are excellent fast rollers. With a bit of grip too.
Officially the new Maxxis Larsens (well, only according to me 🙂 )
