Been a Thomson seatpost and stem man for years, mainly cos the Seatposts were the only ones I knew I couldn't bend/break/destroy in no time, and I like my collar to match my cuffs so to speak...
But looking around at the moment, and especially on ebay, modern Ritchey WCS kit seems to sell for ridiculously cheap compared to its RRP, it's light, gets good reviews on BikeRadar and is even fairly good looking. I know Ritchey is out of vogue as it's the OEM kit on Boardman's these days, but if you were after a new seatpost and stem, would you consider a bargain priced Ritchey setup these days?
Specifically I'm after a 31.6 seatpost and an 80/90mm stem, liking the look of the WCS 1 bolt (looks like a better clamp than the 2 bolt) and the WCS 4 axis stems. Would be selling off Thomson kit to make way...
I have a wcs 4 axis stem on my road bike and its nice and light. The seatpost clamps look **** in my opinion.
Which clamp? The older twin bolt one, or the newer single bolt one?
I have been running a WCS 2-bolt seatpost and 4-axis stem since late 2007 with no complaints. I have no experience with the newer single bolt seatpost. I'm getting a dropper post soon, though...
Why sell the Thompson kit? Or is it a size issue you need a longers set up?
I've got was on my road bike no issues, I've got pro on my CX again no issues with the seat post clamp even at over 100kgs ๐
I used to run WCS stuff, was good.
