[#6982951]

As I'm in charge of organising our club rides now, and like to make life easy for myself, so would any of you kind gents like to guide us round a days ride around Prestwich, Littleborough or somewhere in that area? I'm not confident I could find the good stuff, or string a big loop together, as it's usually dark. ๐Ÿ™‚

Start at 10am, (though that could be flexible) stop for a pie and a pint at lunch time, and knock off about 3pm.

Ta.

i have to go to work for the next two saturdays, which is a shame as i'd have been up for this definitely otherwise.

Yes, that's a shame, but I'm sure someone will step up.

If it wasn't clear, would be nice to see a big gang out, not just one who can find their way round.

edit - 25ish miles? We usually go by time rather than distance, and the fast lads, (and there are some who can do serious fast if they put their minds to it) are happy to got the same pace as everyone else.

Not sure I'm free on the 18th but if I am I'd be up for it. Don't know Prestwich much but Littlebrough would work. We could do a circuit round the White Holme Moss resevoirs, down to the Shepherd's Rest and over to Stoodley and back across White Holme Drain and finish down the Mordor Traverse to Hollingworth Lake. I'll check with the Mrs and get back to you.

Mrs Daz has just given me a pass so we're on. If they're all fit lads we could go up Penny Steps for a laugh ๐Ÿ™‚

Nick, I'm usually out round Tod quite a bit (at least once a week, sometimes more), both midweek and at weekends so if you ever want to get out just gimme a shout. Mail's in profile so just drop me a line. Or if you prefer I can let you you know if I have owt planned.

dazh, that's brilliant, I'll take you up on that. Might be a bit though, as I just found a couple of cracks on my frame (MNPR-2, Bike frames-0)

I'd be up for the route dazh is suggesting. Will have to consult the fun prevention officer though.

Edit: nickc. Seriously???

I was only saying to binners last night what a lovely bike that is...

Sorry to hear about your bike though Nick. I suppose the warranty will leave you with a new bike?

10am's fine. Might as well keep the meeting place at the usual - Wine Press, Hollingworth Lake.

Now I just have to stay uninjured, and not get ill, which has been the main problem recently. Oh, and not break my bike, which is also not unusual ๐Ÿ™‚

What is it about MNPRs that break bikes?

Bregante, aye, just found them today as I was washing it, two hairline cracks along the gusset weld on the top tube/head tube, on both sides, same place...

arses. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

So we killed 2 frames? That's a pretty good record! You sure it wasn't built by an Italian after all Nick? ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you follow the half French, half Spanish aproach, you should be put on trial for breaking something so aesthetically pleasing! You bastard!

I'm in if you need a rear gunner on the 18th.

Without wanting to be pessimistic, that route stays right up on top of the moor for a good while so if the weather craps out we might want to rethink. Just saying, I'm sure it'll be fine, but recent history has shown a correlation between me leading rides and apocalyptic weather ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds dangerous this.... But I'm not sure if anyone in history has worn-out a Blue Pig Mk1, so I may yet dare to join you ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is starting to sound like it has potential.

As I said, all welcome. I could hardly say no after all the benefits I've had riding with you lot over the last couple of years!

I'm almost certainly up for this, will check with the authorities.

Daz if the weather's rubbish there's a lot of fairly decent stuff that we can add on to the usual loop to the south of Hollingworth - you can just keep on heading out on the PBW and add stuff on all the way out towards Uppermill and back. It all holds up well in bad weather, and keeps off the very tops so it's not too exposed. I'm happy to figure something out on the day if you're not that familiar with it.

Damn, looks like I can't make it after all, but the forecast is looking OK for the weekend so you should be able to stick to the original plan.

I was hoping to chance my arm and meet up with you all between the Shepherds and Warland res, if you are still doing the route Dahz mentioned and leaving about 10-00, but I have had the Bregante trots from Monday night also, I will have to see tomorrow if I'm pamper free.

Jesus! He's infecting people with his lurgy by osmosis now!

Bregante - are you possibly some sort of demonic, tangfastic-fuelled anti-Christ?

It was indeed. My lot were well impressed, I've had a couple of e-mails thanking me for organising it! (I think all the thanks are due to Daz for his epic guiding skills, particularly timing the lunch stop so well)
