I think I'll become one in 2011. Probably fitter now than when I did all my 24s, but I hate training specifically for them i.e all my hard work and hopes depending on one day only to be shattered by a cold.
So I think I might prepare myself to be called into action at a few days notice next year.
What as a Hired Gun for teams that are a man short kind of thing? Perhaps it would be handy for the organisers to have a pool of pre-registered replacements should a team require them…

My team has just such a person riding with us this year (simonb512 off here).
I quite like the idea of a pool of mercenary riders who can turn up, dish out some pain to the other teams, then slip silently away into the night....
I'll need pink kittens, flowers, chocolates, class A drugs and ladies of ill repute though.
Last time I stepped in the last minute I hurt my shoulder the night before in drunken wrestling and couldn't ride for weeks and work for nearly 2 months. 😐
That's why you should always oil up for nudey malarky.
We need a rider so any guns for hire, apply here. Can't promise any women of ill repute but can dye the cat, pick some flowers and find a bar of chocolate if it helps. Sure of good company , beer & support without question.
