i'm slowly managing to get stuff out of my bag and onto the bike, but looks like i'll never be able to mount a bottle on this frame, so i'm after suggestions for very minimal hydration packs please. only need to take a 1l bladder. so far i've seen this decathlon one: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/500-hydration-pack-black-id_8300156.html, which is probably fine, but any other suggestsions would be good.
probably not into a hip pack, unless you can be very convincing...

About as minimal as it gets, the pocket clips off if you want, little key/tool/co2 pocket inside
Straps make it sit solid when your off road, but unclipped it sits really well for climbing or cruising

@mike

Could be good for Marathon use - with the extra pocket removed, it is the same size as the Airborne 2 or bigger? And - is there a decent pocket for phone / key without that? Thanks.

I got one of these after a couple of recommendations from here. It's a nice pack, Fits everything I need for longer ride. I have ditched any kind of pack for 2/3/4 hour rides but the extra 1liitre of water that I can carry with this comes in handy when it's hot.

Wingnut are doing a new smaller version of the 2.5 too (called 1.8). They also do a smaller assault bag too.

Kryton

the pocket inside is narrow but you could fit the phone in with the bladder fine. Pocket weights f'all and for marathon easy access to tools etc would be best if you need it. really changed the way I think about bags and looking at the bigger one for days out

Appreciated, thanks - although I'd carry all those in my pockets.

I use a Camelbak Rogue for short-ish rides; 2 litre bladder & plenty of room for most tools, plus a waterproof/arm warmers etc.

Can be had for around £30 incl. the 2 litre bladder. I know you said 1 litre bladder, but you could just half fill it..... 😀

teamslug, looks like a waist pack to me, too much so i mean

any systems about with a flexibottle, or whatever they're called, fitted into a frame bag and a tube coming out? could work for me. tube would need a clipon toptube or somewhere.

those wingnut packs look convincing, but believe it or not, too big.
really only needs to hold the bladder.

just looking at that. me too!
sure it's better than without, but they still look like braces, or lik ea harness for a brushcutter

I use an Osprey 1.5L bladder in a frame-bag with the magnetic clip for the bite valve on the stem - quick-connect on the hose means it's easy to refill / probably quicker than a backpack.

The Wingnut assault holds a bladder and just the bare essential tools.

I'm interested to try the Source bum bag. The camelbak bumbag I have is neat but it bounces around and is too heavy when the bladder is filled.

liking the look of the camelbak hydrobak.
simple and small. easy to fill without opening up a bag.
hmm, no chest or waist strap tho

I've got the Uswe one. It's great. Nice & stable on my back & enough space for a tube, multi tool, co2 & a little pump plus keys & phone.

Cheap, minimal and comfortable but bin the bladder straight away - utter rubbish!

I replaced mine with inov8 1L bladder, now the pack is perfect for riding and running.

The pack itself is very good.

Hydrobak shows with a chest strap in the pics? If it's weighing only around 2L do you need one?

really liking my USWE 15 pack - I'm really tall so waist straps never sit low enough and the harness does seem to keep it stable.. USWE all on sale at Freeborn ] at the moment .

I have the decathlon one. It's good, especially for the price. I like the cross over chest strap. It's not totally minimal - I can store a pump, inner tube, tyre levers, spare gear cable, small multitool, gilet and some food in it, as well as a litre of water.
Edit: and a phone and wallet.

thanks nerd. i tried it on today and the chest strap felt a bit weird and small. but i think there'smots of variation in the decat stuff and i'd probably find one htat felt better.
for 20 euros it's hard to beat
