Those crazy Germans eh, always coming up with new engineering ideas! Well how about a set of 1047g 29er 22.2mm internal width carbon rimmed XC wheels with a rider limit of 125kg but instead of using steel spokes they use polymer fibre instead.

Not new though
My spinergy 60mm carbon road wheels have hollow kevlar spokes , weigh a damn site more than 1.1kg but they are bling bling

Yeah, but are they rigid spokes or flexible rope like these?

Mavic do hollow carbon spokes AFAIK

This was the theory behind the Tioga disc wheel about 25 years ago, although it was implemented differently.

Spinergy were doing something similar 10+ years ago with there PBO spoke system, I had a set of xyclone which were an amazing set of wheels.
