Can anyone confirm if I just need the microspline ratchet freehub body to convert my 148 DT240hub (DT1501 wheelset) or do I need the freehub that comes with the end cap which seems to state for 142/148 hubs?
It's £20 more for an end cap I may not need.

You 100% do need the end cap I'm afraid.
The DT drive side end caps are the same for 142/148/157 etc so that kit will work on pretty much any DT ratchet hub with a 12mm axle.

I'm pretty sure the microspline end cap is slightly different to the boost end cap.
I've got a DT1501 boost wheelset that came with microspline + endcap and I had to buy a 11 speed free hub + end cap for it to work properly
