what are they like - nicer than the standard or a winter alternative?
Much longer than normal buff, usual nice merino feeling, and about the same thickness as the originals. Mines used pretty reguarly and shows no sign of wearing. Due to it's length it's a bit 'pony tail' like when worn as a bandanna hat thing under a helmet.
nicer than standard, don't know versus the winter version but i suspect it'll be a little cooler but a lot less whiffier
Yep, nicer than standard and 6" longer, but 3" shorter than a Polar Buff. Tend to use mine mostly as a neck gaiter, with a standard one as a beanie under my helmet. I've found the Polar Buff too warm for riding, so that gets used as a neck gaiter or hat for winter walking.
sounds good, thanks.
only ever use them around the neck when cold, so it sounds perfect.
If going for a Merino buff, also check

I thought they were a tinsy bit longer than the buffs and a bit warmer (and possibly adifference in price). There are reviews online if you want to find out more.
I've just ordered up a few more for the shop. We did a roaring trade in them last winter and Mark wore one almost constantly.

Very cosy and they don't get to that really smelly stage. I'mm after an Electric Blue one to go with the mmmBop ๐
I bought one. Liked it so much went back and got another colour too. Bought one for a friend and last winter it was here favorite outdoor wear.
No problem with length, in fact in the cold longer is better. Lots less problems with smells. Recommended.
I did hear a rumour they are trying to do marino ones with printed patterns on but I cant see any on the net. They do a range for pet dogs though ๐
my buff is half and half (one end is fleece).... tho i cut it in half cos the whole thing is too warm in summer.. lol
