Looking at getting the new xtr mech and was wondering if there was any difference between using the medium cage or the long cage. The bike its going on is a cube stereo so full suspension. Front chainset is a double XT 32-24 and the rear cassette is 11-36 and i am also running the new bionicon chain guide. Any pros/cons between the cage lengths???

Medium will be fine - unless you run a 3rd ring on the front anytime in the future.
Get the long cage, was running a medium cage on a 11-34 and it wasn't great, changed to a long, no problems, if you want to be technical, look up the Max T count for the RD, and do the math to see if it will work.

Ive just brought the chainguide you mention. how are you finding it? did you just take off your big ring and run the 2 chainrings that were standard? I would like to change the middle ring to a 34 or 36t do you know if this is possible or anyone else infact? 🙂
i need to order the middle ring soon also is it ok to run your existing shifters and front mech?
