I would post a full reply, but clearly the lack of meat and dairy in my diet has left my brain unable to function.

Most vegetarians I know don't seem to smile (or as happy) as often as meat eaters, bacon sarnies are the key to eternal happiness, veggie's that are truthful sometimes admit they like the smell of bacon on the grill, stubborn liars pretend it ain't so.

Also.. 😀 http://www.vegetariansareevil.com/killers.html

I do wish Vegetarians & Vegans (and I include myself in the latter) would collectively stop feeling the need to defend the dietary choices of meat eaters.

Humans may once in the past have needed to kill to eat, but we don't need to anymore. In fact it's been suggested it would be globally better for people not to.

###

I saw a cattle farm by a roadside in the US over the summer. We continued to drive past it for what felt like miles, just a continuous mass of cows packed into steel fences waiting to die. The whole thing reminded both me and my normally meat eating companion of nothing less than a concentration camp.

I still don't get the no jelly babies thing though and why you can'y just pick the chicken out of chicken noodles

The main reason is because is it is obvious that you just eat everything you see 😉
Genghis Khan was not he was nomadic and ate meat as did hitler and Pol pot the website is a spoof of the VIVA site and names people who cannot sue.
I am sure some nutters are /were veggie /vegan but fail to see what this proves or suggests in general about either non meat eaters or nutters

I'm not entirely sure you can draw a causal link between someones preference in physical activity and their dietary choice.

Granted he does sound like a bit of a battery human, but theres more of those than there are free-range these days.

I am an entirely average STW-er (30's, multiple bikes, commute by bike, a few xc and big events a year, cheeky night rides in all weathers, beard and steel singlespeed, social subsection of guardian-reading bleeding-heart socialist).

I have been veggie for 12 years. I don't consider my diet to have made any difference either way in my riding/sport habits. I am about the middle of my riding frineds in terms of fitness and gnar, and would be fitter and slimmer if I ate and drank more sensibly. I weigh a good stone more than i ever did when I ate meat. When riding I tend to 'run hot' not cold.

Tried to lure friend of mine MTB-ing and poofta doesn’t take it. Never mind he is black but excuses of – it’s too cold, - it can be dirty sport, - if ever I buy a bike it would have to be one of them Trek’s with belt drive cos it won’t be dirty. I tell you, them blacks are funny.

Now, after really thinking about it … meat eaters are different animals. At least all my riding buddies are.

Have you seen black MTB-ers or maybe are you the one? And please don’t start with questions of –Where can I buy black peoples shoes threads, that coloured theme is a joke in my understanding of being hippy green to the world.

Think I stand no chance at all to lure a black into the sport, guess the only bike he would go for would be a fixie* obviously of a fashion trend.

I could be wrong about blacks though, only if you prove me wrong.

The op is either retarded, 12 or trolling which according to STW is against the rules.

30 year veggie hear who, depending on who you ask, can ride a bike. Two of my brothers ride as well as being veggie.

Proof that they aren't mutually exclusive.

Veg 30 years now. Something wrong in your opinion Pop.
Funny thing, the older we get, the more decrepid one's meat-eating friends become. Still, it's your choice..

I wasn't going to post but have got drawn in while I wait to see if my computer 'decides' if it has lost all this morning work.
I am veggie and have been since day one, but as people have hinted upon before me, who cares!
I really don't see that what you eat or don't should matter to anyone else.
The only thing that I find hard about being veggie is people being bothered about it and asking "but what do you eat at christmas?" Cycling is certainly not a problem.
Although the only really objectionable thing about this thread is the presence of Al Murry's stupid gormless face.

i think it's the stupid link between veggie = not someone who would go riding. i've never heard anything so utterly dum. are you seriously saying everyone you know who eats meat rides mountainbikes offroad? i bet not. but from the account of one vegetarian you see fit to generalise? do you not see anything wrong with that?

They don't till someone on a biking forum makes some ass-hatted comments.

By my reckoning, if you're just waiting for someone to cook you up a decent fillet you aren't vegetarian, you're just someone who doesn't eat much meat. As I would definitely refuse, because I just plain don't want too. Hence I would be 'badge wearer', you would not. Though I wouldn't try and convince you not too either.

Just to be clear (not aimed at you nonk) - fish DO count 🙂

I was vegetarian for 16 years and then discovered bacon. I have been on the dark side ever since.

If someone was to suggest that being a veggie makes a difference to what kind of sports or activities a person may enjoy, I would hazard a guess that they grew up on a farm and lost their virginity to a chicken or goat. I could be wrong about redneck meat eaters, only if you prove me wrong.

Veggie here too!! Go out in the cold, rain, snow wind etc. Interesting reading this. Veggies aren't soft or "poofters" we just choose not to eat meat. Doesn't bother me what others eat, why should it bother them what I choose to eat. My kids eat meat - I cook it for them, I'll be cooking a Turkey at crimbo - just not eating it!!!!
I know a lot of veggies - most are as tough as any meat eater....Call me, or them a poofter....you'd better be able to run boy!!!

I'm still intrigued by "I don't meet many veggies on the trail". How do you think that you can tell?

I think what he means is that he never catches up with anyone to ask.

the way to tell out on the trail is to pinch their sarnies. if it is full of odd things like cheese and conichons - veggie

if it is a cold sweaty bacon sarnie with ketchup= meaty

easy really. 😉
