We are ten days into our TransAm ride from Virginia to Oregon, Its just over 4000 miles, which we anticipate will take around 80 days. You could go around the world in that time I suppose, but I doubt you'd see much along the way.
We are using the Adventure Cycling Association Transam route maps. We are riding self supported and so far are still fit and chaffing free. The route follows mainly c class roads which give a real flavour of back country America. I'll try and keep the blog up to date and will post some pictures later.

We met some hikers on the Appalachian trail the other day. Wow that is an epic walk. 2100 miles starting in April, ending in September. They are carrying supplies for five days at a stretch.
Hey MC good to hear from you at last. Will definitely keep an eye on the blog.
If you want a good read about the Appelation Trail, get Bill Bryson's book A Walk in the Woods, which is basically about him doing it in small chunks.
Happy cycling. Stay safe
Hi, I am the webmaster of crazyguyonabike. I just wanted to let you know that the journal link in the original post is bad - it will redirect you to a login form (and I am seeing quite a few people registering on the site in the mistaken belief that this will let them view the journal). Here is the correct link:

Once again: You do NOT have to register on crazyguyonabike in order to read journals - the author just mistakenly posted a link to the edit page. It would be great if the original post could be corrected by a moderator. [Corrected. Mod]
