I think it must be. They were one of my regular sites I’d visit for reviews (they had some good riders/writers) but it hasn’t been updated since 26th September.

I remember them saying they were stopping the magazine and going website only. Which was the death knell for Dirt Mag

I have to say, I think non-e mountain biking is becoming fairly niche these days.

If I were running a mountain bike based business, I’d be focussing on e-bikes.

Weird that the Insta is still being updated but the website not.

Hopefully they have just lost the password or something, because I think they've been doing some of the best bike and gear reviews in recent years.

Yeah, it feels like a shame if it is perma-death. I've always found it a useful resource for reviews, though I did wonder whether their commercial model was sustainable once they'd closed the print mag. It felt like there were a lot of staffers being sustained by a specialist website.

I thought the same, they were putting out a lot of good content for a lower profile site. Maybe they were trying to build more of an audience.

Anyway, fingers crossed it's just a hiatus of some sort.

were mbr against it/prioritising meat powered bikes?

looks like 5 ebike articles on the MBR front page currently, plus another article on DJI motors.

anyway, as a big fan of non-e mtbing, I'm not sure its niche... but I'm not sure its got much in the way of groundbreaking tech launches either. which means it must be hard to fill a magazine/website/youtube channel with relevent content.

If you showed me a trail bike that was notably better than my current 2021 trail bike, I would buy it right now. (see my comment on the "what is rich" thread, and know I'm an engineering nerd with disposable income). But honestly I don't really see what I'm gaining apart from possibly a sandwich box.

I hope it keeps going, their videos are good and the magazine when it went under was the one I enjoyed most.

Most probably. They were possibly struggling with audience I think.

OK, looks like they just had a couple of months off updating the website.

Possibly a tech issue or something.

I was quite surprised to see Dirt's website is still there.  It's like a time capsule from 2018...

Sounds very niche (and quite messy!)

I do have an ebike but when I've gone to the Surrey Hills in recent years I've taken my singlespeed hardtail to confuse the locals!

Fingers crossed for those that were still working there then.

I can testify that it's not the best time to be out of work.

I wish them all the best and it's a great brand, at least it used to be. How the hell to differentiate yourselves out there though? It was hard enough for mags coming out once a month to be original. What do you do when people are expecting fresh new content every week?

Absolutely the best of luck to them. I very much like Danny and have an awful lot of respect for his writing and his riding ability. Hope they make a success of it.

Saw this on my Instagram feed.

Being an old fella, it did make we wonder what a viable business looks like for them?  Is it purely based on engagement of content and then advertising revenue from that? How many likes and shares do you need to pay two people a living wage?

I wish them all the best though,

I would imagine it'll be mainly sponsored content with a much smaller bit of YouTube ad revenue also.

I remember their seemingly biased reviews - Specialized and Trek always won everything, even the time they reviewed a Trek and it snapped and still got a 7/10 or something.
