It's probably been covered many times before, but hey.

I've got a problem when shifting on my 8speed cassette. It will shift ok between the 4 biggest cogs up and down, but after that it misses 5 and takes its time changing on the others. I've tried reindexing, but not really worked. I'm guessing the cassette is worn, could it be anything else?

Is the cable on the correct side of the bolt on the rear derailleur (in the little groove)?

sounds like dirty cables to me, assuming you have a mech that isn't rapid rise. The spring is pulling the mech outwards but the pull is weaker as it reaches "full" throw and the sticky cable stops it from moving far enough when your shifter releases the right amount of cable

I changed the cable last night. It was the cable not being in the groove. Seems to be working ok now though touch wood. Thanks for the replies. You've saved my weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

It wouldn't be right to make it too easy would it?
