My go to tyre for riding round the Somerset Levels on my MTB has up until now has been the good old Gravelking . Just picked up a hole in one that Stans can't seal 😔There were always a fight to get on so I just wondered if the Rambler would be easier/ better as I'm usually ok with setting up Maxxis

But is the tyre actually any good?

I've been using Ramblers for a couple of years and they are excellent for my riding but I'm lucky to not have to ride in mud that often. I can attest that they don't like mud!

Also, they are the only tyre I can get to seat on my rims without a huge fight, but that probably says more about my rims and techniques!

Having said that, I'm not one for constantly changing tyres. I generally choose one type, fit it and run it till it falls apart then put the same type back on...

I have them in the HyperX compound - so far so good, wearing well, but nice feel to them, but can't comment on how they would fare with particularly sharp /flint etc

I replaced 1.9 Larsons with 45mm Ramblers about 6 months ago on my commuter & have put over 1000 miles on them, front is looking good but I doubt the rear will last to the end of the summer.

They seated easily & I'm using 40psi in them.

Grip is good on fire roads & farm tracks but don't have a very muddy commute.

I have them on my gravel bike...they're fine. Pretty quick on road and light gravel, but limited grip on anything slightly muddy or wet. I also put a big hole in one on an, admittedly quite rocky, descent.

Mine were a bit of a pain to set up tubeless: easy to get on/off, but I had to employ the ratchet strap/compressor combo to get them to seat.

I have a 45mm version on the front of my gravel bike.

Easily mounted and runs true. Not the best in mud but I don't get too much on my rides, doesn't like slimy smooth rocks but I haven't found anything that does. Little bit draggy for the level of grip maybe but I have electric so not fussed.

I put it on in January but haven't bothered to try it tubeless. I never get punctures (touch wood) so it is easier not to have the faff

I don't have anything to directly compare against but I do sufficient road mileage to consider then entirely acceptable 😃
