Hey!

Its been a while since I've run a DHF 2.5 WT, I've got a brand new one and a brand new DHR2 WT both in 3c MaxxTerra.

Is there any difference in the transition between the DHR2 and DHF? I remember there being a definitely gap from upright to leant over.

Mixed conditions what do you prefer rising out of the two?

Cheers!

Ricks

DHF 3C MAXXGRIP 2.5 WT, I've been surprised how much grip it has compared to a MAXXTERRA DHF, 28mm internal rim

I really like the dhr2, think the dhf has had its day tbh.

I'm trying a DHR Maxxgrjp up front, big thing I noticed is how slow it seems to roll. Few little fire road sections, smaller lighter people were rolling away from me. Was checking my brakes for rub, etc. but seems to be the tyre

2.4 DH2 dragged horribly for me - on a 30mm internal rim - on the rear. Had it a month or so and sold it on eBay and went back to a 2.3dhr2 - still good rear grip but much faster rolling.

I had tried the 2.3 DHR2 on the front and didn’t like it - felt like it had loads of grip before it suddenly snapped / washed out. The DHF2.5 wt seems to have a more progressive end to its grip (on the front).

So I’d say DHF front / DHR2 rear.

As to the DHF having had its day, what’s better on the front for mixed conditions / leaning more towards dry than wet?

I tend to run the DHF for 8-9 months of the year then my preferred tyre for the wetter months is a 2.35 Magic Mary. Unfortunately now the 2.35 is out of stock in most places (addix soft / snake skin ) pending the new casings coming in which seem to be stronger / heavier. Just picked up a 2.6 addix soft / snakeskin
/ apex thing to dry for the winter. Feels very solid casing wise for the front of a trail bike - certainly heavier than the 2.35.

Don't go there! I don't have one in the tyre box.

I'd still rather have a dhr2. Maybe maxxterra instead of maxxgrip, all that tread and volume and sticky rubber all adds up to drag, and the maxxgrip only really comes into its own in the wet.
