practical experiences please. Building some disc 700c wheels and I can get Open pros at silly money. 1 pair will be my road wheels but I need another for my off road tyres. Want to run 38-42mm tyres. Anyone done this on pro's? failing that any suggestions. Could buy 29er wheels but what?
Also don't want to end up with obscure free hubs so maybe its Hope or Shimano hubs However the former sound sh*** and the latter are a bit common and tacky. Suspect it will be tacky but would like some alternatives.

Yes you can but not at low pressures - fine for cx though I'd have thought?

Where are the cheap open pros?

Hope hubs are great by the way - or do you mean the sound they make is n't acceptable?

You can quieten down Pro 2 with judicious appliaction of grease. Do you know if Pro 2s can be built up disc and Camapg specific as well, ie does a Campag 10 freehub fit on Pro 2 disc hubs??

I run 28mm Conti 4 Season and 35mm Conti Twister on my Open Pro wheeled commuter Matt; never gone bigger than 35mm though. Sheldon Brown reckons you can go up to about 40-42mm on a 19mm rim (Open Pro is 18.6?) but I reckon 35mm is as big as I'd want to go.
