Could you not ask on a road forum...............

I don't believe that you do need rim tape

This is the "BIKE" forum. I'm willing to bet there are a few Ksyrium riders around these parts 🙂

No need. You'll probably have trouble getting tyres on and off if you do put rimtape on.

If you're lucky running without tape may work. If not, use the proper mavic tape (which should have come with the wheels) or tyres will be bloody hard to put on, the cloth tape is too thick, it stops your tyre getting far enough down into the well to get the bead over the rim.

there's no need because the rim well isn't drilled for nipples as it's not necessary due to the design of the nipples.

Hi Druid

All of the above answers are right and wrong - it depends on the variant of Ksyriums you have.*

SLs and Elites and so on don't need tape, Equipes do need tape. As Clubber pretty much said, if there are spoke holes use tape, if there aren't any then don't...

* Probably.

sorry, I was jumping to conclusions, which ksyriums have you got?

The ksyrium equipe has traditional drilled rims, which is what I was thinking of. The posh ones, the elite and the SL don't, they are rather lovely....

blige! beaten to the draw there by iamtheetc
