Trying to set these up tubeless for a friend. Tyres are Schwalbe T+Ron / Ralph but not tubeless ready, on a Canyon hard tail of some sort

Put new tape in (Muc-Off) because they didn't seal with the supplied tape, but air is still gushing out through valve hole

I could have ballsed up the tape installation but I don't think this would lead the air to pour out so fast. Similarly, I can understand the tyres not holding air but they go totally flat in about 30 seconds

any brainwaves?

Pretty sure I have an en427 and had no issues with sealing tubeless. My guess is the rim likes a certain shape of rubber valve. Mavic valves tend to be barrell shaped to fit a channel where as some are flat and round to suit a flatter rim.

So I'd try another shaped valve if you have any.

Also try melting a hole in your tape with a small pokey object rather than slitting with a Stanley knife. That helped on some hunt rims I was struggling to get sealed.

i think you may be right - valve doesn't seem to sit in the channel too well

I've got some unused Mavic tubeless valves you can have, they've just been sitting in my toolbox for years, minus the knurled nuts though.

thanks - I'd be happy to have them (and buy you a couple of beers / bottle of wine - virtually, of course.....)

I'll pop them in a padded envelope and post them Monday, just message me the address.
