After a ride the other day i was cleaning my bike and realised a spoke from the rear was missing, i took the back wheel down to Evans and they said that they are not normal spokes and he needs to contact mavic to order them especially and sometimes they only sell spokes per side not per spoke?!

Is this true? and any idea where i can just get 1 spoke rather than a side. im guessing a side of spokes directly from mavic aint gunna be cheap

I had this issue with a chain shop (Alpine Bikes) saying they'd need to order me in a box of 200 or something stupid like that and that I'd need to contact mavic directly.

Then I went to a proper shop and they sold me 2 for a couple of quid.

LBS to the rescue.

Probably easiest to call all your local LBS's and see if any have them in.

Yes, otherwise they'd have been left with a box they might never sell.

Another reason why to only buy 'standard' spoke wheels.

bike-components.de used to sell them individually for about €2 per spoke. seems they only sell per side now €8.95 for 12 in the case of Crossrides. So they used to be extortion, special order only, but are now similar price to DT Swiss Comp.

edit: and that's all from stock. DOn't know if there's any shipping fee to UK, or if any other big uk store stocks them.

Crossride spokes are only about £6 per pack trade, about a third of the price of the crossmax etc. ones

George halls cycle centre normally keep a good variety, I think they sell online as 24/7 cycleshop.
