Hello All,

First post, but I've been enjoying the goings on with the forum for the last few months, with many wry smiles. The failure of life, dependant on monetary value I particulary enjoyed!!

Anyway, I've recently purchased my first FS (2nd hand Cannondale RZ120), it comes with the crossride disc wheels and leading upto an event on Sunday the freehub seems to have given up, for a relativly new bike I think is odd.

Tonight, all over the kitchen, I have taken it apart and given a good clean and lube, everything is fine with no wear on the springs, paws (with the red plastic bits) or teeth, but it is still refusing to engage.

What have I missed? Anybody had similar issues? Next step to replace the body?

Cheers

Flinstones

What did you lube with? grease or oil?

decent coat of oil in the freehub body should be enough to sort it - otherwise your bearing tension might be too high. You didn't forget to put the spacing washer back on before the freehub body?

Sounds like something is miss aligned (assuming they're the same as crossmax's) there is washer that goes between the bearing on the hub and the bearing on the freehub. Sometimes people service the freehub and forget to put it back. Too heavy or too much oil can also cause problems.

Edit: too slow ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for the reply Zulu-Eleven,

I lube with oil. I can hear the paws ticking over the teeth one way, but quiet when rotated the other.

The springs are in good condition and paws sit proud and spring back an forth happily.

And I didn't forget the washer. Bearing Tension?

Cheers
