[#11916273]

I hit a rock recently and got an insta-flat which wouldn't seal so I had to use a tube to get home. No visible damage to the rim and air appeared to be escaping from one of the spoke holes so I'm assuming a spoke has dislodged the UST rim strip, although my wheels were super muddy and covered in sealant so I didn't manage a close inspection.

I've been too busy to do anything about it lately so just left the tube in, but should have some free time this weekend to sort it out.

Will I need to remove the Mavic rim strip or can I just clean everything and apply some new tape over it? I have some Tesa 4289 tape from converting my previous wheelset.

Danke!

If it's like mine (there are a few different models!) - the rim strip is part of the rim and can't be removed. I did tape a Ksyrium that started to leak inexplicably, and that sorted it, so worth a go. (Just taped over the rim strip, like you say)

Cheers Dez.

You might be right there, thinking about it the tape does look like it's been heat-shrunk to the rims. Is yours like a transparent blue? These are just the standard Allroads, not the Pros or SLs.

Anyway, I'll give it a thorough clean and tape over it. Will report back once I get around to it ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's weird, the Crossmax UST wheels on my MTB have no tape at all!
