[#2624504]

Just recieved my Marzocchi 44 tst 2 forks back from windwave , the problem with them was the lock out and rebound didn't work at all and the forks were stiff.
Took my bike out this afternoon just to take the dog for a walk and after hopping a kerb the front end sunk really low.
Took the bike back home and pumped up the forks took It round the block unlocked the forks everything seems fine . Ive taken a note of the fork pressure and height and stuck It back in the shed .

Any Idea If Its likely to leak or could It be the fork oil settling ?, Is it likely to be a back to Windwave job. ?

That never happened to me before. I heard about bombers loosing air but it was the higher end models with dual air springs. Normal air springs (not ATA or Doppio Air) on bombers were fairly problem free. My mate has a 2010 44RL nad his fork keeps on working no problem.

But did You set the fork up when You received it from Windwave or did You just put it straight on the bike without pumping it up? It might have been the case that it only had minimal amount of air in it but seemed fine when compressed by hand.

You'll have to wait and see if it happens again and just have a shock pump with You on a ride. I doubt it would be down to oil levels, if it had too much oil than You would not get full travel, but too little oil would mean that the lockout would probably not work (from experience with RS forks) but the air spring would not be affected.

Windwave did a coil conversion on my 2008 XC 600s , they were fine for a month then started losing air .I phoned them , got hessy and eventually got new forks but they did want them back for another go !

Just put the forks straight on as they looked like they were sitting at the right height. I'll check tommorow and If need be they will have to go back to Windwave again and start saving for some Rock shox . ๐Ÿ™

The thing is some Bombers have an coil spring with a air spring assist. I had a XC500 and because of that it was sitting at the normal height even without air in the air spring.

I tried to set another bomber, xc700 and although it seemed fine it was diving during braking when I was on the bike. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think it might be the case that the fork was not pumped up by Windwave once they did the repair. You'll have to go for a ride and see.

I would be concerned if it's a borked air spring if the fork was set up by You before the ride and then suddenly lost air after a quick compression when riding off the kerb.

If they sorted the lockout and rebound and the air spring is working than 44 is not such a bad fork. Only issue with my mates 2010 44 is that it weights over 2kg but is buttery smooth and easy to service and has a 3 year warranty.

The notes from Windwave say that It got a new Compression Knob and TST2 Cartridge and the Inner core valve was re tightened. Cheers for the advice Mieszko and hope everything got resolved with your mum and the con merchant you posted about a while back and i'll see you on a TBC Pentland ride soon . (Hopefully with a working fork). ๐Ÿ˜‰
