hey all,

basically got a pair of bombers with the ETA.
but it needs a remote.i refuse to pay for the remote as they want best part of near 80 quid for it.
so my idea is....

use an old skool thumbie shifter?
any one done this or no it it be ok.
my only concern is that the shifter being indexed may not macth the travel intervals on the ETA

comments and susgestions welcome and thanks in advanced

You could use a thumb shifter and you may well get lucky with the indexing.

If not, set it to friction shift (Maybe tightening it down a bit, if need be, to keep it from slipping) and limit the lever throw with a bit o' bodging.

I use an ANCIENT black box Rock Shox pop-loc-type thing as a front shifter (two rings) and it works perfectly, so I'm sure it'll (probably...) work the other way around.

Definitely doable. Good luck!
