Window of opportunity coming up for a couple of days riding and shakedown of bivvy kit.
Thinking train to Littleborough and doing a leisurely MTL clockwise with a bivvy on the northern edge somewhere.
Suggestions & thoughts?

I've bivvied at the top of the packhorse trail just up from The Shepherds Rest pub, going clockwise, a few times. Nice spot, not too far away from the road for a quick ride to work in the morning and far enough from Rochdale to not be risky.

We've bivvied above Gorple Rocks: basically ride to the highest point between Hurstwood and Widdop reservoirs then turn down to the south and there's a few spots around here http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=392332&Y=432000&A=Y&Z=115 I've not been to the old ruins of Gorple farm itself but that's also a possibility and should have a water supply close by.

Gaddings is an option if you fancy a swim too - the quarry below it - and trail called Shropshire - are perfect.
