Hi I have a Marin Quad Tara 2006 which needs the bearings replacing. Has anyone done this before? and where do I send the bearings for warranty replacement?

Probably should ring ATB Sales but thought I'd ask here first.

Also does anyone have any tech docs on the above model it seems the Marin support site is missing them (they have Single pivot adjustable and Quad Tara non-adjust but nothing the same as 2006 model).

I would have thought ya local Marin dealer would supply and fit under warrenty. Most warrenties imply all work should be done by a suitably qualified mechanic etc. If so thats your argument to get them done for you...? Just a thought.

my lbs gave me the bearings (dealers are entitled to charge for fitting - I just didn't have the bike with me at the time), I just had to return the old ones to them, so that they could send em back to ATB for some more... They come marked as KP5AX no idea what the 'norma' bearing code is...

As for a technical guide, no need, it's dead easy.

Take it to where you got it and pay the tenner or so labour, or try get them and do it yourself like z1ppy said.

I thought Marin had a lifetime warranty on their bearings? Or they used to.
A girl I go riding with has a Marin Rift Zone that must be 4 yrs old or so now, perhaps 5 and she had the bearings replaced under warranty last yr (might have been early this yr) when they failed.
You'll probably need your receipt.

got mine done earlier this year on a similar 2004 frame.
free bearings and labour at the shop under the lifetime warranty. didnt need to show the receipt and they didnt even ask if i was the original owner (which im not).

great service, but may just have been lucky in not having to pay anything

Thanks for all the replys, yes your right they are lifetime warranty replaceable. Just trying to avoid using the LBS where I bought it as 1) they take ages (2 weeks to do the work) and 2) they charge a fortune for fitting (£60 last time).

Thats why I want ed to do it myself and just send them back directly to ATB, think I'll give them a ring.
